General Questions

Do I have to be a UWE student to use the Online Store?

 No, the Online Store is available to everyone. However, there may be certain products that are restricted to UWE students. These products will be clearly marked and will require a valid student number.

 
How will my order be confirmed?

Once you have completed your order an email will be sent to the registered address almost instantly.

 

How will I receive my goods?

Goods will either be dispatched to the delivery address once the order has been processed or will need to be collected from UWESU. The confirmation email will advise what action you need to take for items that must be collected.
 


I've forgotten my password, what should I do? 

If you go the login screen there is a 'Forgotten your password?' link. Simply enter your email address and then click this link. An email will be sent with a reminder of your password almost instantly.

 

Are there limits to the number of items I can buy? 

In certain cases customer limits are set to products as restrictions may apply. In these cases the product will be clearly marked and a message will be dispayed if you attempt to purchase too many.

 

Security Questions

How secure are the UWESU Online Payments Facilities?

All data is transmitted using 128 bit encryption and secure socket layers.- the current industry standard. After entering the secure site, but before you are asked to enter any information, you will have the opportunity to examine the secure site certificate. On the secure site certificate, there is a link that gives full technical details of security provided.

 

How will I be able to tell that I have entered a secure site?

You will notice that the address (URL) shown in the address bar starts 'https://' rather than 'http://'. You should also see an image of a padlock towards the bottom right side of your screen.

 

Payment Questions

What cards are accepted?

Payment can be made be made by credit or debit card issued by Visa, Delta, Mastercard, Solo, Maestro (if issued in the UK), Visa Electron and JCB. We are unable to accept Amex or GE Capital for online payments.

 

 I have attempted to pay online but have received the message 'Authorisation has failed'. Why is this?

There are several reasons why this may have happened.

You may have made a mistake entering the card number.

Your credit limit may have been exceeded. In addition to an overall credit limit, some card issuers may impose daily limits and limits on the size of individual transactions.
The post code you entered is different from the post code held by the card issuing company.

Not all cards are eligible for online payments - please refer to the previous question.

The server used by the University's Payment Service Provider is offline. This is unlikely as the service is available 24 hours per day 365 days per year but there are occasional 'outages' for maintenance which usually last no more than 30 seconds.
If your card has been declined you may try again but, please, be aware that most card issuers allow only three consecutive attempts before the card is blocked for the rest of the day. In order to protect your confidentiality, the card issuing company will not tell UWESU why the transaction has been declined and you will need to contact them directly to ascertain the reason. 

How will I know that my payment has been successfully processed? 

Within a very short time you will receive an email confirming your order and quoting the unique order number. 

 

When is the system available?

 The system is available 24 hours per day, 365 days of the year.
