Federico (Fred) is a double bass and electric bass player and educator based in Bristol. He holds a Master's Degree in classical double bass from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of music of his hometown Rome (Italy).
During his classical studies, he had a chance to study with many jazz legends such as John Abercrombie, Uri Caine, Cameron Brown, Eddie Gomez & Dave Liebman. He moved to the UK in 2015, suddenly becoming one of the busiest bass players on the South-West's jazz scene. He had the chance to play with Enrico Tomasso, Alan Barnes, Roy Williams, John Martin, Jeremy Huggett, Cass Casswell, Richard Exall, Brownfield-Byrne Hot six, David Mowat’s Bristol European Jazz Ensemble (Beje), Denny Ilett, Daan Temmink Trio to name just a few.
Very active in music education he has been teaching privately for more than ten years, as well as delivering improvisation workshops. Furthermore, he used to run the Bristol Academy of Creative Music, a community-focused Academy of music in the heart of Bristol.
