Paul Laidler appears to be trapped in the 1980’s or more specifically the era’s association with ‘new’ technology as seen through media such as film and television. Subsequently he has a profound curiosity with the mediated image where its fictional presence becomes a semi tangible component in the resulting artefact. Whilst this initiates the play between fact and fiction there is an unashamed alliance with the inner geek.

Paul has degrees in Illustration and Printmaking and a doctorate in fine art digital print. He has exhibited and published his work both nationally and internationally where it is included in collections at The V&A, Tate Britain, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, The Print Centre, Philadelphia, School of the Art Institute Chicago and The University of the Creative Arts Farnham UK.
