R. James Healy graduated from the National Centre for Computer Animation (UK). As a visual effects artist he’s contributed to a wide range of productions, including commercials, music videos, and feature films. Healy’s visual arts practice examines perception. His works combine the use of technology with traditional craftsmanship. Drawing on his experience in visual effects, they often incorporate kinetic, sequential, and algorithmic elements.
In 2024, James completed an artist residency at the Centre for Print Research. This brochure details his journey and the resulting editions.

20 GOTO 10 is a 3D printed sequential artwork. It consists of five sculptures that form a seamless loop. Viewed in the round, 20 GOTO 10 explores the cyclical experience of time.

20 GOTO 10 REM 8-BIT is a modular 3D-printed sculpture composed of eight parts. Each part contains magnets, allowing them to be snapped together in any order. With no predefined arrangement, the parts can be combined in a total of 7!? = ?7 × 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1? = 5040 ways. Adapted from the sequential sculpture 20 GOTO 10, the work explores themes of time and memory.
